topic iconNaming pointers and organizing them.

I have made some guidelines that I use when organizing both, my own pointers, as well as other ones I download. Here's what I've made:

--- Guidelines for creating cursors. ---
I will here specify a standard of naming
and alt naming for creating cursor sets.
While creating a cursor set, make sure to name according to the function
of the pointer being named, the filename must not contain any spaces. In
case of multiple pointers of the same function, specify the altern names
after an underline, for example "arrow_alt.cur", using other descriptive
alt names is also acceptable, such as "arrow_blue.cur". In case multiple
words are required for describing the pointer, use the dash character as
separation, such as "arrow_aqua-blue.cur". Even if the file extension is
not the same, use the same naming convention, such "arrow.cur" should be
the main "arrow_alt.ani" should be the alt.
For naming each pointer function, the following names should be used, in
order of what is displayed in the pointer list, as of currently (January
12, 2026), in Windows 10:
> arrow
> help
> wait
> busy
> cross
> beam
> pen
> no
> size4
> size3
> size2
> size1
> move
> up
> hand
> pin
> person
These names should be kept wether or not the cursor is
an animated file or any other file extension (format).
--- Additional note. ---
While casing doesn't matter as much in Windows as other operating
systems, it is a good practice to keep the filename in lowercase.

Does anybody else have similar practices or suggestions on how this can be improved?
